1(ish)-Sentence Reviews of Fall’s New & Returning TV Shows

NewsShows Week 1

Gotham (FOX): If you’re not a devoted comic book fanboy, this will likely prove to be a very uncompelling watch.
(Props to Penguin, Riddler, and Jada Pinkett Smith though)

How to Get Away with Murder (ABC): Passable

Scorpion: A slickly-directed, occasionally charming, but oft-dumb show that doesn’t feel very much different from any of CBS’s other procedurals

Black-ish (ABC): Decent-ish

Madame Secretary (CBS): Felt about twice as long as it actually was (in a bad way). Madame Secretary = An ultra lightweight version of The Good Wife + Homeland

Returning Shows
The Good Wife: Holy shit. Was worried how TGW would follow up its fuckin’ AMAZING 5th season, I should’ve never doubted.

Modern Family (ABC): Fans of the show will still find plenty to love, while still seeing the same old cracks that’ve been forming over the past season (Cam and Mitch’s storyline revolving around keeping secrets from each other/jealousy/trying to save face in a situation that snowballs). Non-fans will see this as more of the same ol’ same ol’.

South Park (Comedy Central): This coupled with last season bodes well for the rest of South Park’s season.

(this is just for the 1st week of the new fall television season, possibly more of these to come)
